Takahata Mitsuki to star in TV Tokyo drama SP "Boukyaku no Sachiko"

Takahata Mitsuki will be starring in the upcoming TV Tokyo drama SP "Boukyaku no Sachiko" (A meal makes her forget) which will be shown at 11.15pm on 2 January. The drama is based on the same-titled manga by Abe Jun which is currently serialised in "Shuukan Big Comics Spirits" and will be a gourmet drama meant to whet the viewers' appetite during the New Year holidays.

Takahata plays the lead character Sasaki Sachiko who is an editor for a literature magazine and very serious, calm and capable at her job. Just as she thinks that she has a perfect life and is about to get married, her fiance Shungo disappears on the day of their wedding without telling her why. On the following day, Sachiko happens to enter a teishoku restaurant and chooses a teishoku randomly which turns out to be so delicious that she feels as if an electric current had gone through her body. Sachiko realises that she is able to forget the bad things in her life through eating so she goes in search for the most delicious food with fervent enthusiasm.

The producer Kinoshita Mariko said that they chose Takahata because they wanted someone who would be able to make the food eating scenes look good and has a steadfast and direct character who will earn the support of the viewers. Takahata also happened to be an avid collection of gourmet-themed manga and is a big fan of the original manga thus she felt that it seemed destined that she got to act in this drama. Although she feels pressurised to match up to her own expectations to do even better since she likes this character a lot, Takahata is also excited about the filming and hopes to enjoy the process as well.
