Japan premiere of new movie "Hagane no Renkin Jutsushi"

The Japan premiere of new movie "Hagane no Renkin Jutsushi" was held at TOKYO DOME CITY on 15 November which was attended by the director Sori Fumihiko and cast members Yamada Ryosuke, Honda Tsubasa, Dean Fujioka, Renbutsu Misako, Hongo Kanata, Uchiyama Shinji, Natsuna, Sato Ryuta and Matsuyuki Yasuko. The movie is due to be released in Japan from 1 December.

Yamada started off the event by talking about the appeal and charm of the original manga but mispronounced a word which led to his co-stars poking fun at him for being nervous. Yamada smiled shyly and continued to say that the movie will entertain even those who have not read the manga and hoped that many people can watch it to find out how it is. When asked about the charm of Ed who Yamada plays, Honda who plays Ed's childhood friend Winry, joked that Ed has big dreams and strength despite his "small frame" (in reference to his height) which Yamada could only agree with.

During the second half of the event, a hologram of Al (Ed's younger brother) appeared on stage with voice actor Mizuishi Atomu speaking in real time to the cast members. Yamada commented that it had been some time since he saw Al while Honda asked what Al had been doing since the filming ended. In response, Al (Mizuishi) replied that he had been studying alchemy and called upon the Homunculus characters to behave together and get along with the others today.

Uchiyama who was diagnosed with 6 neoplastic polyps during an appearance on TBS variety show "Meii no THE Daikoban" on 6 November and underwent surgery to remove 5 of them, returned in good condition for the premiere. As he played the character Gluttony who always eats a lot, Uchiyama was told by the director to put on weight. However, he was later told by the doctor that his over-eating was what caused the polyps thus Uchiyama "complained" to the director about this.

The movie is set to be released in more than 190 countries including the United States and Europe.
