Completion screening event of new movie "Uso wo aisuru onna"

The completion screening event of new movie "Uso wo aisuru onna" was held at Tokyo International Forum on 27 November which was attended by the director Nakae Kazuhito and cast members Nagasawa Masami, Takahashi Issei, DAIGO, Kawaei Rina and Yoshida Kotaro. The movie will be screened in cinemas from 20 January 2018.

In this love story with a tinge of mystery, Nagasawa plays Kawahara Yukari, a career woman working at a major beverage manufacturer who has been living with her medical intern boyfriend Koide Kippei (Takahashi) for the past 5 years and has plans to marry him soon. One day, Kippei collapses due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage and slips into a coma. To Yukari's surprise, when the police comes knocking on her door, she finds out that everything she has known about Kippei is a pack of lies lie as his name, occupation, driving licence and family register are all fake. While trying to find out what kind of man she has loved, she heads to his supposed hometown on an island in the Setouchi Inland sea where she gets help from a private detective Kaibara Takumi played by Yoshida Kotaro to investigate the truth. DAIGO plays Kimura (nickname Kimu) an unsociable hacker who is the subordinate of Kaibara and assists in the investigation on Kippei. As for Kawaei, she plays Kokoha who is an university student dressed in Gothic and Lolita fashion and follows Kippei around like a stalker.

The director revealed that the movie was prepared for more than 10 years and that it took about 100 rewrites before he was happy with the script. As such, it felt especially gratifying and happy for him to be able to make this movie with such a wonderful cast and crew. With regard to her character, Nagasawa said that she could identify with Yukari because they are about the same age and that they are at this stage when they feel that they have to find true love soon. That was why she could link her feelings to that of Yukari's in order to add depth into her portrayal of the character.

Nagasawa and Takahashi last worked together in the movie "Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo sakebu" but they only had a few scenes together at that time. In order to bridge the distance between them, Nagasawa said that Takahashi taught her a lot by showing how he could be so unreserved towards her which helped them not to hold back when filming. At the same time, due to the lack of distance between them, it also made Nagasawa nervous and Takahashi shy as they sought to overcome these feelings during the filming.

In line with the movie's theme, Takahashi suddenly revealed that lies are part of his daily life because he doesn't see that as a negative thing but rather something to spice up things. This led DAIGO to poke fun at Takahashi that his thought upon hearing this was UM i.e. uso mitai (like a lie).  DAIGO also said that he had to wear a wig for this movie but Nagasawa and Kawaei both said that he looked natural in it that his confidence got a boost. Meanwhile, Kawaei revealed that there was a scene where she had to kick Yoshida's stomach but her body was so stiff and she almost hit Yoshida at his "dangerous zone" if her leg had gone one cm lower.

During the event, the cast also talked about Takahashi's revelation on NTV programme "Sukkiri" about eating just one meal a day for 15 years since he was 22 and that he will get an upset stomach if he eats more than that. This led his co-stars to exclaim that they cannot do that and Takahashi was given the nickname of "Takahashi Isshoku" (One Meal Takahashi). Despite so, Takahashi commented that he didn't think he was doing anything weird because he was under the impression that there were more and more people doing this.
