Oguri Shun, Kitagawa Keiko, Hamabe Minami & Kitamura Takumi star in new movie "Kimi no suizou wo tabetai"

Newcomer Hamabe Minami and idol group DISH's Kitamura Takumi will be joint leads in the new movie "Kimi no suizou wo tabetai" (I want to eat your pancreas) which will be shown in cinemas during summer 2017. The movie which is based on the same-titled bestseller novel by Sumino Yoru which was ranked No.2 in the 2016 Honya Taisho, is set in two time frames. Hamabe and Kitamura will be playing the past of the leads while Oguri and Kitagawa will be playing the present versions.

The story features the heroine Yamauchi Sakura who is suffering from a serious illness in her pancreas and the only person who knows about her illness is the lead character "Boku" (I) who is Sakura's classmate. As the story shuttles between the past and present spanning 12 years, it talks about the death of people dear to you and how feelings are conveyed through something more than words.

Oguri is playing an original character who didn't appear in the original novel so he was surprised when offered the role but decided to accept it due to the passion showed by the staff in crafting a brand new story. He also hopes to be able to receive the innocence and energy from his younger co-stars and deliver a performance which fits well in this movie. As for Kitagawa, she expressed anticipation at working with Oguri for the first time.

Although Hamabe is a new actress, she has appeared in dramas such as NHK's morning drama "Mare". Hamabe commented that she was surprised by the offer but is very happy to be given the opportunity to play Sakura. Kitamura who was recently seen in the TBS drama "Aogeba Totoshi", has already appeared in 4 movies this year. He remarked that he hopes to be able to show the change of "Boku" after he meets Sakura and do his best in this movie.

Filming is expected to be done in September and October. The movie will be directed by Tsukikawa Sho and the script is written by Yoshida Tomoko.
