Fukushi Souta to star in the real-life adaptation movie of "BLEACH"

Fukushi Souta will be starring in the real-life adaptation movie of popular manga series "BLEACH" which will be shown in cinemas in 2018. The movie which will be directed by Sato Shinsuke who was responsible for films such as "GANTZ" and "I am hero", will feature Fukushi in the leading role of Kurosaki Ichigo, an ordinary senior high school student who becomes a death god in order to eliminate the evil spirits named Hollows. The manga by Kubo Tite was serialised from 2001 and had accumulated sales of 87 million copies for its 73 volumes published so far. It will end its 15-year run in the 22nd September issue of "Shuukan Shounen Jump".

Fukushi commented that he was shocked when told about the manga's adaptation and hopes to do a good job playing Ichigo. As the manga is about to end, he hopes that the movie will be able to satisfy fans who still want to see more of Ichigo and the other characters. On the other hand, Kubo said that the real-life adaptation took this long to be made partly because of his excessive demands but he was glad that it coincided with the end of the manga. He hops to be able to help the movie reach out to people who don't know about "BLEACH" and make the fans satisfied but expressed concern if Ichigo's hair will be dyed orange as per the manga because it might look odd onscreen.
