Furukawa Yuuki to star in Netflix's drama adaptation of "Boku dake ga inai machi"

Furukawa Yuuki will be starring in Netflix's drama adaptation of popular manga "Boku dake ga inai machi"  which will be shown this winter to 190 countries worldwide. The manga by Sanbe Kei has sold 4.29 million copies to date and was made into an anime shown via FujiTV from January 2016. The real-life movie starring Fujiwara Tatsuya was shown in cinemas last March. This will be the first adaptation after the manga had ended its run.

Furukawa will be playing the lead character Fujinuma Satoru who has the ability to send himself back in time before a life-threatening incident happens so that he can prevent it from happening. When his mother gets murdered by an unknown person, Satoru is suddenly sent back to the time when he was an elementary school student. This in turn gives him the chance to prevent a serial kidnapping and murder case which had resulted in the deaths of his childhood friends and classmates.

Furukawa commented that he is very happy that the drama will be seen by an international audience through Netflix. The character happens to be of the same age as him i.e. 29 years old but he manages to become a heroine he had always aspired to be through this revival power. As such, he hopes to show the gap between his usual quiet self and his heroic side through his acting and that fans of the manga and new viewers will be satisfied with his performance.
