5-ji kara 9-ji made is best drama? Seriously? Sigh.

At least Tamaki Hiroshi got third for best actor.

Nanao was brilliant in Siren! Can't wait to see her in Kaito Yamaneko!

Hi junny, I tend to find the results Nikkansports Drama Awards a bit weird at times. Frankly speaking, it feels more like a popularity award and although I hate to admit it, you do notice that Johnny's artistes tend to do rather well here despite the presence of "stronger candidates" at times. I haven't watched 5-ji kara 9-ji before so I can't judge it. However, I would have expected Shitamachi Rocket, Kounodori, Siren or even Asa ga kita (which is still ongoing) to get the top spot given that they were highly praised in the last season.

Comparatively, The Television's version of the drama awards does try to take into account popularity and critical acclaim but the part about the judges' and TV reporters' voting is quite shrouded in secrecy. I don't remember seeing the percentage each group of voters has over the final result but notice that the judges seem to have a lot of commanding power. As such, even if someone wins big in the popularity chart, he/she may end up still not winning in the category if the judges and TV reporters think otherwise.

Exactly my sentiments. The Nikkansports awards do feel more like popularity awards, so I guess Johnny's artistes will be right up there, but it just feels silly when there are much better actors/dramas also featuring. Ah well. I wish these awards would be more open about how voting is conducted, so that they are more credible and we get the truly worthy winners.
